Farnumsville
Engine House
Twenty years of preservation activities at Farnumsville’s
historic Blackstone Engine House #3 have not gone unnoticed. The restored
circa 1853 building and the efforts of South Grafton’s Skip Michniewicz are
featured in the latest edition of “Along The Blackstone,” the award winning
cable television series produced by National Parks Service Ranger Chuck
Arning of the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage
Corridor.
Look for the new edition of "Along The Blackstone" entitled "Preservation
Passion" with a feature segment on Grafton's Farnumsville Firehouse - to be
aired on Grafton Community Television Channel 11 starting next week - the
week beginning Monday, August 20th.
According to Ranger Arning, “Throughout the Blackstone River Valley we see
first hand the tremendous challenge of keeping historic landscapes intact.
We might be overwhelmed by the shear scope of some of these preservation
projects. But rather than being overwhelmed, I think you’ll be inspired by
three similar, but quite different stories of people who made a difference
in taking on major preservation projects in their home town.”
