Riverboat Tours
Since 1993, the Blackstone Valley Explorer has been a popular way to
see a new perspective of the region, right on the Blackstone
American Heritage River! The only riverboat operating seasonal
historic, educational, scenic and interpretive river tours on the
Blackstone, the 49 passenger vessel tells the story of what was
once called America’s Hardest Working River and gives passengers the
opportunity to discover the river’s ecosystem, learn about the
river’s industrialized past and its present restoration.
In addition to its regular public tours on Sundays @ 1, 2, 3 & 4 pm., in July and
August, The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is offering
Summer Twilight Cruises aboard the Explorer on certain
dates, so contact www.tourblackstone.com.
The 45-minute
afternoon Bring your own lunch cruise explores the
wetland bird habitat of the Valley Falls Marsh and the surrounding
historic landscape. Ticket prices
are $10.00 for adults, and $8.00 for children and seniors on the
45-minute cruise. If you prefer, on the leisurely 75-minute
Summer Twilight Cruise you may see muskrat, deer, fox,
swallows or bats. Prices for the
twilight cruises are $12.00 for
adults and $10.00 for children or seniors. Reservations are
required for these special tours and a minimum of 10 people are
needed in order to operate the cruise.
Valley Falls Marsh, RI’s
largest freshwater marsh, and Lonsdale Marsh, a RI habitat
restoration project, is a haven for swallows, blue heron, and other
waterfowl, both resident and migratory. Binoculars are available,
or you may bring your own. Insect repellent is recommended.

Kayaking/Canoeing or Guided Tours - 4 Itineraries in PDF
available There are dozens of access points
on the Blackstone River from Worcester to Pawtucket. However, the
experiences differ dramatically. So do the experience levels of skill as
the River contains very smooth paddling and also, very rough whitewater
paddling, too! It is best to let our river experts craft an itinerary
for you based upon your interest - whether that includes scenic,
historical, industrial, portage concerns.
If you're a novice that needs a kayak, canoe, paddling
lessons and/or a guide to enrich your experience,
tell us what/when you
