Asa Waters Estate - Millbury. Gunmaker's Asa Waters 1832 homestead stands as Millbury's town jewel. Historical visitors and perhaps part of the Underground railroad.

Blackstone Gorge - Blackstone. Dramatic section of wild stretch of the Blackstone River with 80' drops surrounded by  Rhode Island/Mass bi-state 100 acre park for picnics and hiking. 401-762-0440

Blackstone Valley Visitor Center - Pawtucket, R.I. Changing gallery exhibit, area information and gift shop. 175 Main Street.

Breezy Picnic Waterslides - Douglas. Family owned picnic grounds and Alpine slide on Whitins Reservoir.

Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary - Largest urban sanctuary in N.E. with 300 acres of woods, fields, stream and marsh. Visitor information center for River Corridor. 78 species of butterflies and many other wildlife species. Visitors center.

Buck Hill Trail - Burrillville, RI 4.7 miles to hike with lots of wildlife any tiny ponds for wood ducks. Large marsh with dead trees and borders of Ct., Ma., and RI all uniting.

Chepachet Village - Glocester, R.I. Bustling antique center that brings you back a century or so. Visit the Brown & Hopkins Country Store and the Job Armstrong Store. Putnam Pike, Rte 44.

Chestnut Hill Meeting House - Millville. New England meeting house built in 1769 which is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the oldest structures of its type in original condition. Tours and events.

Cornet John Farnum House - Uxbridge. 1710 built house which held first town meeting of 50 families in 1727. Historical society restoration with many fine early furnishings and china.

Diamond Hill Vineyards - Cumberland, R.I. 200 year old vineyard house and gift shop along with five acres of vines with the grape Pinot Noir and chardonnay. 34 acres of lovely scenes.  3145 Diamond Hill Rd, 401-333-2751.

Douglas State Forest - Douglas. 4650 acres bordering Ct. and RI offering swimming, boating, fishing at Wallum Lake as well as miles of trails for recreational use of snowmobiling, horseback riding, skiing, hunting, hiking. Rare Atlantic cedar swampland accessible by boardwalk. 55 mile trail connected to 95 mile Mid-State trail system.

Ecotarium - Worcester. A 60 acre center for environmental exploration with earth science exhibits, natural history displays, planetariums shows, Tree Canopy Walkway, nature trails and wildlife habitats and a great little train ride around the acreage.

E.N.Jenckes Store and Museum - Douglas. Century old general store offering insight to everyday needs and life within the community. Features dry goods section and much more restored by Douglas Historical Society.

Friend's Meeting House - Uxbridge. 1820 built oldest religious building in Uxbridge offering original hand hew timber and early cemetery. 

General Rufus Putnam House - Sutton. Sutton Historical Society's home with early Sutton memorabilia. 508-865-2725.

Higgins Armory - Worcester. World famous museum offering arms and armor and a true castle atmosphere for all to study and enjoy. Private functions, birthdays parties, museum store.

Historic Great Road - Lincoln, R.I. A 1660s Conklin Limestone Quarry is the cornerstone of the many historical houses within this village hosting an early wooden mill, Chase Farm recreational area, Blacksmith Shop with demonstration and Friends Meeting House. 401-333-1100.

Jenks Park - Central Falls, R.I. The Cogswell Clock Tower sits atop Dexter's Ledge and offers an expansive view of Rhode Island's Blackstone Valley. This area, which is home to one of the fiercest battles of the victorious native Nipmuc, Narragansett and Wampanoag Indians against English colonists in the late 1600s.

Lincoln Woods State Park - Lincoln RI. Fresh water swimming, trout fishing, 92 picnic sites on 627 acres, trails and game fields. Boats under 10hp allowed. Between Rtes 146 and 123.

Lookout Rock - Uxbridge. King Philip's lookout point when struggling against white settlers. Large granite rocks looking out upon a wonderful vista of the Blackstone River. (photo above)

Mass Audubon 's Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife and Conservation Center (in Worcester) - 414 Massasoit Rd, Worcester. Visitor Center. Information on the Blackstone River watershed and wildlife. Organized canoe trips. Birdwatching, walking, biking information. Small admission charge to non-Worcester residents except for Audubon members. 

Mendon Country Gift Barn - Mendon.Penny candy, collectibles, finely crafted furniture in this country store located in an old restored barn. Various events.

Millville Lock - Millville. 1827 built and best preserved canal lock on Blackstone River. #21 lock out of 48 from Providence to Worcester. Near Triad Bridge.

Old Sturbridge Village - Sturbridge. Living history within a 19th century village with shops, varied homes, water-powered mills. Daily events with costumed workers. Visitors and Education Center.

Pawtucket Red Sox -  Pawtucket, R.I. 401-724-7300. Great family sporting fun.

Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge - Smithfield, RI - 100 acres devoted to preservation of bird life. RI Audubon society refuge featuring pond, brook and pine forests for photographers, walkers and those seeking serenity. Library, gift shop, resource room.

Purgatory Chasm State Park - Sutton. 1300 State owned park and glacially formed gorge cut through solid granite roughly 14,000 years ago. Five trails, picnic area and nature program, children's slides and fun.

RISD Museum - Providence, RI. Plenty of special exhibits plus regular ongoing collections.

River Bend Farm - Oak St.,Uxbridge. Big red barn visitors center offering information and many tourist brochures. Sunday events. The Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park offers 1000 acres of natural setting along the canal with hiking, canoe access and picnic grounds as well as Rice City Pond, a great area for watching wildlife. Pretty.

Slater Memorial Park - Pawtucket, RI. Celebrating Samuel Slater, the founder of the American Industrial Revolution. Full recreational facilities, tennis, picnic. Summertime concerts. Louff Carousel - 1894 Restored Carousel listed on Natl Registrar of Historic Places with 42 standing horses, chariots, six menagerie figures. Daggett House - Colonial pewter, needlework, furniture, china used in Revolutionary War.

Slater Mill - Pawtucket,R.I. Water powered mill built in 1793 to produce Samuel Slater's technology of cotton yarn and textile manufacturing. Waterwheel and other features and attractions. 401-725-8638.

Slatersville Common - North Smithfield, R.I. First industrial village in America planned by John Slater, Samuel's brother. Several buildings of interest along with 1855 Arch bridge.

Smith Appleby House - Smithfield, RI. Grandson of John Smith, cartographer of the NE coastline, Elisha Smith built this house around late 1600's. As his family grew, so did the one room stone house ending up with 12 rooms with varied designs and original stencils. Old saw mill remnants, etc. Smithfield Historical Society restored since 1974. Southwick's Zoo - Mendon.  New England's largest zoo offers hundreds of rare birds and different animals. 30 acre deer park and wild cat habitat. Chimpanzee natural habitat. Special events, food service, pony rides, playground and picnic areas.

Spring Lake Beach - Burrillville, RI. 750 feet of lakefront on fresh springfed water pond, boat rentals, hall, social grounds , volleyball. off Rte. 102 Small admission charge.

Tower Hill Botanical Garden - Boylston. 132 acre living museum of plants features formal and informal gardens, panoramic views, Orangerie tropical garden, and natural settings. Education and Visitors Center.

Train Depot - Woonsocket, R.I. Corridor Commission Office and historic Providence & Worcester Railroad 1882 Depot visitor's center.

Triad Bridge - Blackstone & Millville. A three tiered bridge erected in the late 1800s which crisscrosses the Blackstone River used for various railroad lines.

Vaillancourt Fork Art - Sutton. Handpainted molded chalkware supplying more than 3000 stores nationwide. Studio and retail shop in 1800s colonial farmhouse with full display. 145 Armsby Road.

Walkabout Trail - Gloucester, RI. In 1965, an Australian crew of the HMAS "Perth" under the command of Lt. Malcolm Unwin of the Royal Australian Army was waiting for delivery of two guided missile destroyers and used their free time to work all day building an 8 mile trail. Shorter trails are also available. At night, they swam in the Bowdish Reservoir.

Waters Farm - Sutton. Living history homestead with 130 acres of pasture and woods teaching N.E. way of life. Open for special events only.

West Hill Dam & Park - Uxbridge. 518  East Hartford Ave. 557 acre park along West River with much varied wildlife in woods, meadows, streams and wetlands with frogs, turtles, blue heron, red fox, deer, coyote, hawks and more. Swimming in Harrington Pond with sandy area. Rest rooms, picnic area, grills. Army Corps of Engineers.

Wild Bird Gardens - North Uxbridge. One of Blackstone Valley's most unique shops located on the Mumford River in an 1830 historic mill building. 6000 sq.ft. of bird supplies, kayak rentals, gourmet baskets, massage therapy clinic and so much more.

Willard House & Clock Museum - North Grafton. a collection of over 80 clocks from America's premier 18th century clockmaking family, the Willards. Period costumes, old firearms, artifacts, historical collections.

Worcester Art Museum - Worcester. 5,000 years of art within 35,000 pieces in 36 galleries. Renown small museum offering Egyptian antiquities, Roman mosaics to contemporary work and varied exhibits.

Worcester Historical Museum - Worcester. Three galleries with historical Worcester area collections, artifacts, manuscripts and photographs. Varied exhibits offering Worcester's past. Interesting displays. Also visitors center offering information.

Work and Culture Museum - Woonsocket, RI. Interactive displays of family and work life from pre-WWI to current times. Community historical displays. Historical exhibits and museum store.

Wright's Dairy Farm -  North Smithfield, RI. Working century old dairy farm and yummy bakery with lots of creams, cakes and cookies. 120 holsteins milked daily 3-6 p.m.

Out of region - Davis Farmland Maze -  Sterling, Exit 6 off I-190. Naturally grown exotic maze by English designer Adrian Fisher. Eight miles of four foot wide paths. Admission. 978-422-8888.
