PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS
  • The state maintains a list of "historic assets" in its MACRIS database,
    viewable online:

    http://mhc-macris.net/
  • A starting point to understand the process relative to state and federal
undertakings is the "Review and Compliance FAQ" on the Massachusetts
    Historical Commission web site:

    http://www.sec.state.ma.us/mhc/mhcrevcom/revcomidx.htm

Keep in mind that the trigger for MHC review is not listing on the
National Register, but the involvement of state or federal licensing,
permitting or funding for the project. (Michael Steinitz, MA Historical)
