North Gate, built in 1807, originally
served as a tollhouse for the Louisquisset Turnpike Company and as a hotel
and grange hall in the mid-1800’s On site is a library with holdings
pertaining to the Blackstone Valley, a small museum room with early 18th
century furniture. Recent grants were given for:

To repaint the
Arnold Bakery in its original yellow color.

To refurbish the
foyer of North Gate, the Society's headquarters. The foyer area is
the oldest part of the building, dating to around 1807.

To upgrade the
former Lime Rock Volunteer Fire Department Station. The fire house,
now the Dick and Anne Buckley Museum, houses displays on the fire
department, the former Lime Rock Grange, and the lime stone
industry.
