BICYCLE RIDE and MAJOR TAYLOR STATUE DEDICATION
Meet at 8:45 a.m. at Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square, Worcester,
Mass., for a 30-mile bicycle ride with the Seven Hills Wheelmen and Charles
River Wheelmen's Wednesday Wheelers. Afterward riders will attend the
noontime Major Taylor statue dedication ceremony at the library, featuring
three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond and three-time Olympic
medalist Edwin Moses.

The Bikeway Patrol is pleased to announce our schedule of upcoming events. All programs begin at 10 am at the  Blackstone River State Park, 295N Visitor Center, Lincoln, RI. They will be guided by the Volunteer in Parks Blackstone River Bikeway Patrol in partnership with

Sunday Rides
  • May  18   Maintenance Clinic  Get your bike ready for the season with the help of our highly skilled mechanics from  The Peloton
  • June 15   Father's Day Ride Get Dad off the couch, give him time off from those Sunday chores and enjoy time together riding along the bikeway. Surprises for him before the ride and maybe even along the path!
  • June 29   Children's Parade Arrrive early to decorate your bike with streamers, horns, bells and ribbons. Join our parade which will begin at 11. Also enjoy our bicycle safety clinic and get your helmet properly adjusted by one of our experts.
  • July  13    Interpretive Ride Guided tour highlighting the historical and natural significance of the bikeway, river, canal and Kelly House. Interpretation provided by our friends at Blackstone Valley Interpretors Network.  Enjoy refreshments at the Kelly House.
  • July  27    Parents' Day Ride  A ride for the entire family to enjoy together. Fill your backpacks with a picnic lunch and enjoy the cool of the shade and the serenity of the flowing river.
  • Aug  10    Dog Days of Summer A cool themed ride. Join us for frozen lemonade and ice cream. Wear your favorite casual summer attire in traditional "tourist style". Cool off with  water balloon and squirt gun fights at the field by the Kelly House. 
  • Aug  24    Back to School  It's time for the kids to go back to school but that doesn't mean the end of the riding season. Some of the best fun is yet to come with the upcoming fall foliage (scheduled fall rides yet to be announced). We will be suppling the kids with gift bags of school supplies. 
  • Sept   7    Grandparent's Day Bring Grandma and Grandpa, Memere and Pepere, Noni and Nono. Ride or simply walk along the scenic bikeway. Coffee and juice will be served at the Visitor Center from 10:00-10:30.
  • Sept 21    End of Summer Ride Good bye hot summer days, hello cool fall rides.
  • Oct      5    Antique Bicycle Day Penny Farthings, Bone shakers,Colnago, Masi, Schwinn and more! Bring yours to show off or just come and admire the many ol'time bicycles of others. Prizes awarded for oldest, best refurbished and most rare bikes.     .
  • Oct  19      End of Season Ride    Blackstone River Volunteer Bikeway Patrol Appreciation Ride.

   Thursday Senior Rides

Thursday Mornings 10am leaving from Blackstone Valley Outfitters, 2 Mendon Road Cumberland, RI.  Located adjacent to the bikeway. Bikes may be rented for a small fee from BVO. Bikes are in limited supply and it is suggested that you call ahead to reserve your bike and helmet.  Riders of all abilities welcome.

We are always interested in recruiting volunteers for our Volunteer Bikeway Patrol. Maybe you are already a V.I.P and want to stretch your wings or maybe you know a young person that is looking to do community service hours.  It's a great way to get involved in your community, make great friends, and learn about the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Are you or someone you know interested in joining our group or maybe just volunteering to help host one of our scheduled events?   If so, please contact:
