The 4th Annual Blackstone Valley Youth Fishing Derby a BIG Catch!

Over 110 youth and 84 families enjoyed the day at Pratt Pond, Upton, MA On April 24, 2010.
There were over 50 fish caught during the day. Every child practiced Catch & Release!
Trout prizes were extended through May 1st. Trophies were awarded to the top 6 Trout, along with prizes for Perch and Pickerel in 2 age groups.

We did have a little girl catch a turtle. It was safely released back in the pond.
This annual event is sponsored by The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and Fin & Feather Sports of Upton. It was part of the Celebration of Upton's 275th anniversary.

2010 AWARD WINNERS!!!!
TROUT~
 ~ Josh Nelson from Upton, caught the biggest trout in his age group and also the 1st trout, He was so excited, and so was his father. It was the very first trout he had ever caught. He was awarded 1st place trophy and a Rod & reel.
 ~ Kalvin Aia of Uxbridge was awarded 1st place in his age group, for a 1.21 lb 14 3/4" trout.
 ~ Nathan Satkauskas of Northbridge caught 2 trout both were tagged, his biggest weighed in at 1.56 lbs. 14 1/2" rainbow trout took 2nd place in his age group earning a trophy and 2 gift certificates.
 ~ Zachary Boudrot, a 14 year old from Upton caught 2 trout 1 with a tag, he received a prize and a 3rd place trophy.
 ~ Mason Sullivan of Wrentham,a 3 year old caught his 1.1 lb trout during the week extension of the derby.He was awarded the 2nd place trophy. His face said it all, this is why we sponsor such events.Absolutely Priceless!!!

Perch ~ Jon Bell, Mackenzie & Joey LeClaire, Adel Brochu, Upton; Zack Stratton, Whitinsville; Mark LeClaire Jr and Connor Lordan. 

All in all we awarded trophies and prizes to over 25 young anglers.
T-shirts were passed out to those Participants that pre-registered. Every participant also received a tackle pack and live bait and over 225 Hot dogs and hamburgers were enjoyed by all during the cook out at the Upton Town Beach.
