Purgatory Chasm
Welcome to Sutton, a New England community of rolling farmlands and homes along
with the Fuller Hamlets youth soccer program and sometimes even pro golfing
at Pleasant Valley Country Club. Enjoy the day at Purgatory Chasm or
grab an ice cream at West End Creamery with its lovely views or even generations old
Keown's Orchards or
the magical Vaillaincourt Folk Art. Sutton's easy accessibility via Rte 146, Rte 20 and the Mass
turnpike make it accessible, yet its Common is removed from the busy routes.
Sutton is graced with old country roads abounding
with historic homes offering charm and great
scenery. The Waters Farm, contains over 100 acres of beautiful farmlands,
historic buildings on the National Historic Register overlooking Lake
Manchaug and holds many events throughout the year. Old histories are plentiful within "Wilkinsonville, Quabbin
and Marble Village" making up this growing community. A look at Manchaug, a mill village
and former home to Fruit of the Loom
Mills, gives insight into the mills and rural
landscapes in 1891. Three large
lakes offer many recreational opportunities including bass
fishing, swimming and boating. For a favorite oldtime farm with
fresh milk, dairy and farmstand, visit Whittier Farms or for modern, delicious homemade chocolates, visit Eaton Candies on Burbank Hill.
